Modifying Violations on an Inspection (ROE/ISC Staff Guide)

Modified on Fri, Jul 24 at 1:19 PM

As an ROE or ISC staff member, you can review and modify the violations recorded during an inspection. This allows you to add comments and update grades for specific questions before or after a school district responds.

? ISBE Data Notice: All facilities in the HLS system are automatically pulled from ISBE's HLS system every night. If a facility needs to be added, removed, or updated, please contact ISBE HLS directly.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Access the Inspection

Before you can modify any violations, you must first open the specific inspection. If you need help finding it, please follow the steps in our Viewing Inspections (ROE/ISC Staff Guide).

Step 2: Open Questions and Responses

  1. Once on the inspection page, look to the right side of the screen and click the View Questions and Responses button.

  2. This will bring up a list of all the inspected locations within that facility.

Step 3: Understanding the Location List

On the locations screen, pay attention to these two important columns:

  • "Violations" Column: This displays the total count of violations marked for that specific location.

  • "Answered" Column: If you see a yellow triangle with an exclamation point (⚠️) in this column, it means the district has not yet responded to the violations in that location.

Step 4: Modify the Violations

  1. Click on the name of the location you want to review.

  2. This will open a detailed list of the questions and violations flagged within that space.

  3. From here, you can add comments and set or update a grade for specific questions.
